Diet for gastritis

nutritional guidelines for gastric gastritis

Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining.There is hypo- and hyperacid gastritis (that is, with high or low acidity).

As it is known, the stomach produces hydrochloric acid, its content determines the type of gastritis.Diet plays a leading role in the treatment of gastritis.

Basic dietary rules

The main goal of the diet for gastritis is to follow a diet that ensures normal digestion.

The treatment schedule (per day) for gastritis should include:

  • 90-100 gr.proteins (60% animal),
  • 90-100 gr.fat (75% animal)
  • 400-420 gr.carbohydrates.

The total energy value should be 2800-3000 kcal.

Dietary guidelines for gastritis

Power mode

First, you need to follow the meal schedule (at the same time).Secondly, food with gastritis should be fractional, 4-5 times a day, but at the same time, snacks should be avoided (they provoke "excess" secretion of gastric juice and reduce its production during breakfast / lunch / dinner, which disrupts the processes of food processing and assimilation).

Reading, watching TV and "eating on the run" while eating should be strictly avoided.

Knowing the size

With gastritis, the saying "there should be a slight feeling of hunger after eating" is more relevant than ever.

First, the feeling of fullness arises only 10-15 minutes after eating, and secondly, a full stomach does not cope well with its functions, especially with gastritis.

Not chewing food

Chewing food for a long time (at least 25-30 seconds per piece) helps in more thorough mechanical processing of food, which eases stomach pain.In addition, in this case, hunger is satisfied faster (this prevents overeating).

Refusal of complex food

The menu for gastritis should consist of simple but varied dishes.A large number of ingredients in food make it difficult for the stomach to digest them.

Rest after eating

After each meal, you should rest for 15-20 minutes (not necessarily sleep).You can read a book or listen to music.

Prohibited foods for gastritis

With increasing acidity

forbidden foods for gastritis

With increased production of hydrochloric acid, the diet for gastritis should be aimed at reducing the formation of gastric juice.Thus, the principles of the treatment schedule consist of 3 points:

  • mechanical- avoid eating coarse fibrous foods (wheat bread, turnips, radishes, "old" meat);
  • chemical- prohibition of foods that increase the production of gastric juice (alcohol, coffee, white cabbage, citrus fruits, sour fruits and berries, strong broths);
  • thermal- do not eat very cold or, conversely, hot food (optimal temperature 50 degrees).

Prohibited foods for hyperacid gastritis:

  • fresh, especially warm bread, butter and puff pastry;
  • cereals: pearl barley, legumes, millet, barley, corn (coarse fiber);
  • rich meat and fish broths, okroshka, borscht, mushroom soups (contain many extractive substances that stimulate the production of gastric juice);
  • fatty and stringy varieties of any meat: duck, chicken, pork, smoked meats (it is difficult to digest in the stomach and increases the formation of hydrochloric acid);
  • oily and salty fish (causes the formation of gastric juice);
  • fermented milk products (all kinds of sharp cheeses, limited to sour cream);
  • vegetables: rutabaga, radish, radish, sorrel, spinach, canned vegetables (coarse fiber), as well as onions and garlic, especially raw (stimulates gastric glands in the mucous membrane);
  • sweets: sour fruits and berries, unripe fruits, chocolate, dried fruits (coarse fiber, increased acidity);
  • spices: mustard, pepper, horseradish (stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid);
  • carbonated drinks, kvass, coffee (stimulates the release of hydrochloric acid, increases gas formation, causes heartburn);
  • fried and boiled eggs, animal fats (except butter).

Gastritis with low acidity

The purpose of the diet for gastritis with low acidity is to stimulate the production of gastric juice (in moderation).Food should be taken after the secretion of hydrochloric acid begins, that is, in the first stage (advertisements or programs about food, beautiful photos of food, "tasty" conversations can cause the secretion of gastric juice).

Prohibited foods for hypoacid gastritis:

  • fresh bread, rich pastries ("heavy for the stomach" food, which complicates chemical and mechanical processing);
  • restriction of pearl barley, legumes, millets;
  • fatty meat, lean meat (films), canned goods, smoked meats (insufficient mechanical processing of food, excessive release of hydrochloric acid);
  • oily and salted fish;
  • coarse fiber vegetables and fruits (white cabbage, turnip, radish, cucumber, bell pepper), mushrooms;
  • grains or berries with a thick skin (raspberries, strawberries, red currants, corn, figs);
  • sharp and salty cheeses, milk - neutralizes hydrochloric acid;
  • pork, beef, lamb and lard (foods that are difficult to digest, indigestible due to low production of hydrochloric acid);
  • spices and seasonings (irritating the gastric mucosa), as well as chocolate, grape juice, alcohol;

Authorized Products

With increasing acidity

allowed foods for gastritis

Foods and products allowed and recommended for gastritis with increased acid formation should neutralize the high content of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and facilitate digestion in the stomach (puréed meals, liquid porridges, boiled meat, fish and poultry).

Allowed products for hyperacid gastritis:

  • "yesterday's" or dried bread, crackers, dry cookies (biscuits);
  • mashed vegetable puree (carrots, potatoes, beets, cauliflower), peeled tomatoes;
  • fruits that do not contain coarse fiber (bananas, baked apples, ripe pears, sweet berries, as well as making fruit drinks, compotes, jellies, jellies from them);
  • sweet products: milk cream, marshmallows, marshmallows, honey (drinking water with honey 1.5-2 hours before meals reduces acidity in the stomach, has a healing and immunostimulating effect);
  • butter (natural and ghee), vegetable oils (contains vitamin E, which neutralizes hydrochloric acid);
  • types of lean meat and poultry (veal, beef without tendons and fascia, "white" chicken);
  • milk, cream, low-fat cottage cheese (antacid - acts against heartburn, covers the gastric mucosa, neutralizes gastric juice);
  • river fish (contains a large amount of unsaturated fat, which normalizes the work of the digestive system) in cutlets or steamed, boiled form;
  • seafood;
  • a small amount of parsley and dill, vanillin and cinnamon to stimulate the appetite;
  • soft-boiled egg or steamed omelette (preferably white);
  • cabbage, potato, carrot juices (or a mixture) - antacid effect, high amount of vitamin U - anti-ulcer factor;
  • rosehip broth (a lot of vitamin C, which has a healing effect and increases appetite), weak tea or coffee with milk, cocoa, still mineral water (removal of toxins).

With low acidity

Products recommended for consumption for gastritis with low acidity should stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid.Food should coincide with the beginning of the release of gastric juice.

Allowed products for hypoacid gastritis:

  • dried bread, crackers, baked goods;
  • porridge with water or diluted milk, well-cooked, liquid, as well as steamed meatballs and cutlets, puddings, soufflés;
  • veal, beef, skinless chicken;
  • low-fat meat and fish broths, cereals, pasta, if well tolerated, you can add borscht, cabbage soup, beetroot soup with finely chopped vegetables;
  • potatoes, pumpkin, pumpkin, white (finely chopped) cabbage, cauliflower (boiled, steamed or mashed, in the form of pudding);
  • potato, cabbage, carrot juices immediately before meals (stimulate the release of hydrochloric acid);
  • honey before meals (stimulates acid production), watermelons, peeled grapes, baked apples, compotes and foams from very ripe and sweet fruits and berries;
  • tea with lemon, weak coffee, cocoa with diluted milk, rosehip decoction;
  • vegetable oils, butter;
  • fermented milk products, fried and soft cheese in small slices;
  • soft boiled egg or egg white omelette.

The need to follow a diet

No drug can completely cure acute gastritis or cause stable remission in the presence of chronic gastritis.

All advertised drugs available to everyone are sold in pharmacies without a prescription.But they only relieve (temporary) unpleasant symptoms (heartburn, pain, belching).

Adhering to a diet for gastritis not only makes the patient's life easier, but also disciplines a person.

The treatment table for gastritis is complete and healthy food, normalization of lifestyle, rejection of bad habits and low-quality products.In addition, a diet for gastritis helps to normalize weight (those who lose weight will gain weight, and overweight people will lose weight), because timely and nutritious food not only normalizes the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, but also normalizes all metabolic processes and, as a result, strengthens the immune system.

Consequences of not following the diet

consequences of not following a diet for gastritis

If you refuse a diet for any type of gastritis, the patient may face the following problems:

  • vitamin deficiency;
  • diseases of the liver, pancreas, duodenum, large and small intestine (as a result of stomach dysfunction);
  • a significant decrease in body weight (fear of eating);
  • peptic ulcer disease and its consequences: ulcer perforation, ulcer penetration - sprouting into the organ, bleeding;
  • formation of atrophic gastritis and transformation into gastric cancer.
